Proof of the missing link

When I started this blog way back two days ago, people said: "You gotta be crazy! 90s nostalgia AND boogie boarding in THE SAME BLOG?!!" And I've put up with their taunts and insults for a whole two days. And now, thanks to some extensive research and sponsorship from the good folks at Dr. Scholls, I present you with the conclusive link between 90s nostalgia and boogie boarding:

See, folks, Jerry Maguire star Jonathan Lipnicki likes to boogie. Boogie Board, that is.
You're welcome.

90s Showboat triplecast

For the 1992 Barcelona summer Olympics, NBC had a novel idea: let cable subscribers view unedited live Olympic events, on three different channels! For a fee! Well, the draw of uninterrupted girls' gymnastics and Ahmad Rashad, as well as unperfected technology, wasn't enough to get the people watching. Well, folks, the 90s Showboat is bringing the triplecast back! All 90s Showboat articles are being simulcast on Employee Comedy and 90s Showboat. Double your pleasure, double your fun and 90s nostalgia.

Classic 90s Showboat repost: Rappin' Shaq!

I know it's probably too early to be doing this, but I dipped into the 90s Showboat vaults to find this classic from Monday, June 21, 2004. It's really funny to see how much my writing's progressed since then! Thanks to Megan at Employee Comedy for all the internet link trickery. Without further adieu, I give you: RAPPIN' SHAQ!!!!!1!1

as promised, a nostalgia ride from eotm's own showboat

TOOT! TOOT! All aboard the 90s Showboat! First stop: A visit to the uniquely 90s phenomenon: Rappin' Shaq!

Shaquille O'Neal is best known as an actor, but did you know that he is also a basketball player and was into RAPPIN'? It's true! Between takes on the set of such films as BLUE CHIPS, KAZAAM or STEEL, and shootin' hoops, Shaq could often be found rappin'. And when Shaq was rappin' he was also recording that rappin'.

Beginning in 1993, with the release of Shaq Diesel, Shaq proudly proclaimed through his rappin' "(I Know I Got) Skillz." And did he ever. Skillz costarring with THE HULK's Nick Nolte. Skillz with the Orlando Magic. Skillz with his rappin'. Shaq Diesel, not to be confused with Vin Diesel, also contained a track with Shaq rappin' with 90s where are they now? candidates the Fu-Schnickens. Sorry fellas, even you're not good enough for a destination aboard the 90s Showboat.

As 1994 came to a close, we were all given a transcendent Christmas present in the form of Shaq-Fu: Da Return, and its companion piece for Genesis users, just plain Shaq-Fu. Shaq-Fu was a substandard video game in which Shaq stopped playing basketball and rappin' and started fighting. The world took note. Still, it was "da return" that won the nation's hearts. On a serious note, for reals, Shaq blew the lid off deadbeat dads with his rappin' on the song "Biological Didn't Bother." If the message didn't sink in, Shaq helpfully included a G-Funk remix at the close of the album.

1995 was a rappin' Shaqless year, but 1996 gave us a double-shot of rappin' Shaquosity. In a cart-before-horse move, November 1996 saw the release of the Best of Shaquille O'Neal. A scant week later, an album of new Shaq material arrived, titled You Can't Stop the Reign. Woah-woah-woah, Shaq! Leave a little room on the best of album for "Straight Playin" and "Legal Money".

It was at this point that Shaq began "callin' it in" and stopped rappin' it up. 1998's Respect , with its song "Blaq Supaman" was merely a cynical attempt to push his 1997 box office disaster STEEL in the home video market. But Shaq is not a quitter. Somewhere out there, Shaq rides the rails, rappin' for anyone who will listen. Vaya con dios, Shaq.

Look for an upcoming 90s Showboat feature on: Actin' Shaq!

I give the people what they want

I said this is America's #1 90s nostalgia and boogie board website, and the people are already saying, "We've got the nostalgia, now where's the boogie boarding?" Ask, and ye shall receive. I give you... BOOGIE BOARDING

Where it all began: Looking Back on the 90s Showboat

Man, what a long, strange trip it's been! You know, folks said the 90s Showboat would never last when it first premiered on Employee Comedy way back on June 14, 2004! And I think time has proven them wrong, am I right, folks? But seriously, not to get too maudlin, it has been a magical time here with you aboard the 90s Showboat. I thought it would be cool to take a look back at where it all started. And don't laugh at my hair! It was the style back then!!!!1!
